The name behind our brand comes from my last name Closen.

"Clo's General Leather Co" was inspired by my families upholstery shop back home in Saskatchewan "Closen's Upholstery" in the 1980's.

Being raised on a cattle and buffalo ranch in Saskatchewan, I spent most days as a child watching and learning from my elders on the farm and in the upholstery shop.

After graduating high school I became a truck driver in the oil patch and worked as a landscape equipment operator & journeyman welder. After working in the trades, the industry started to slow down and I was forced to do something different.

Leather work had became a hobby in 2012 while I found myself searching for the perfect wallet. Working with my hands and being creative is where my passion lies. I have always had a dream to have my own shop. In the fall of 2014 I was fortunate to find a small space in the Mercer warehouse  called "Vacancy Hall" and before I knew it, my dream turned into reality.

After four years of determination and perseverance, we out grew our space in the mercer and have recently moved into a new location at:

10047-80 Ave

(Next to Ace Coffee Roasters)

We wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for our family, friends and the group of talented local makers here in Edmonton that keep us motivated and inspired to keep chasing our vision and creating handmade, quality products.
